Mrs.Mangis has come to SA for her first year teaching sixth grade. She found this job from a job opening. She teaches because she loves kids and most of her family are teachers. She has 12 years of teaching experience in Sonshine and Crosshill. This year she is going to teach language arts, science and 6th grade Geography. Because she is a Christian, she is going to stay at SA until the Lord takes her to another place. She loves SA, so she sent her 5 children to here, and they like it very much. She loves to eat Japanese and Mexican food.
This is Mr.Hilker’s first year as principal at Salem Academy Middle School. He came here because his family is here, and it is important for them to be together. He teaches because he enjoys sharing knowledge. He has 7 years of teaching experience in Sawiago Charter Middle School, which in Orange County, California. This year he is the middle school principal. He is a really nice guy, and he is also Christian. He also likes to eat pizza and donuts. He loves SA, so he has decided to stay here for a long time. He is a quiet person who likes to listen. Anyone can come and talk with him in the middle school.
Mrs. Elker is a new teacher here at SA. She is from here in Salem, and has come to capture a perfect picture with her yearbook class.
Working here at SA part-time along with working at Corban University, Mrs. Elker is making it happen with Yearbook this year. She came to SA seeing it from a  parent's perspective loving the environment and mission of the school. She has had seven years of teaching experience in the Keizer School district, working at Corban University, and then coming to work here part time. She loves the school, kids, principals,  enjoys teaching her classes. She plans on staying in the SA family for as long as she is able.
Mrs. Elker has a heart for the school, and wants the students of Salem Academy to know, " I would just like to tell them that, even though I am only here part time teaching my classes, I would love to get to know more students and over time I want to find a way to connect to student more. If you are struggling or uncertain in your faith just find someone to talk to, because even though you might think no one will understand, you will find a lot of support here." So maybe next time you should make a stop by the computer lab, and give a hello!
Here at SA, we have a new high school health teacher; his name is Mr. Kendall. Mr. Kendall is from Kansas, has had 21 years of teaching experience, and is ready to add on to that number here at SA.
Mr. Kendall started teaching at Wallace County High School in Kansas, then in Greenburg, one year in Sheridan Oregon, 14 years at Barkly College in Kansas, and finally ending up in Salem Academy. Here he teaches high school Health, middle school P.E., and a study hall.  He came to SA after being influenced by God to move to Oregon, and that his ministry was done in Kansas. Growing up he had heard of SA from cousins that went here and has been drawn to the Salem area.
As for advice, Mr. Kendall said,  "Here is what I have to say for the month that I have been here; when you walk down the hall and see someone that you don't know, say hi to them, because I am someone people don't know and I walk down the hall and some students say hello and some students kind of look away, so when you see someone that you don't know, which won't last for the whole year, because hopefully you will get to know them, so say hello to them. "
